Where you work is of course, very important. Stone carving makes a fair amount of noise and heaps of dust. Don't work in the same room as your computer. Also bear in mind that stone chips can smash unprotected light bulbs and play havoc with your hair.
In the summer, working outside is nice. In the winter you'll probably want a nice cosy workshop.
Stone can be stored outside, if you don't have room elsewhere.
